I was born and raised in New England. Though I was interested in writing children’s books as a young adult, life presented some twists and I focused instead on having adventures in the wider world. While raising a family I lived in Asia for over a decade then Texas. As my kids got older I started thinking about the next chapter and circled back to writing for children. After writing my first book I wanted to illustrate it but struggled to get the pictures that were in my head on paper. The quest to learn how led me on a journey of art classes and discovery. Drawing and painting was like the missing puzzle piece in my life; I’d discovered a new passion. For the past 10+ years I’ve been learning and practicing. Now I’m back in New England and it feels like the time to bring the words and pictures together and send them into the world.
I love to learn new things; I’m a voracious reader who knits, braids rugs and gardens. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains or walking along the rocky Maine coast I very much enjoy being outside where I find food for my soul in the midst of nature. I also love to watch (and play) with the young children in my life. What a joy to see them discover new sights, sounds, skills, and the world around them.
